Monkey Business

Yesterday, our monkey fell of the the monkey bars at school and broke his right monkey arm in two places! We spent the afternoon and evening in the hospital getting the bones set and a cast. Connor had to be sedated - thankfully, so that he doesn’t remember them doing the procedure. Now he has a cast up past his elbows on his right arm. We'll try to post a picture soon.

The hospital experience had a lot to be desired and he went through a lot yesterday. He got to pick what he wanted for dinner last night because he wasn't able to eat anything all day before the procedure. He chose Chips Ahoy, french toast, and chocolate ice cream and enjoyed every bite!

Connor will have the cast on for 3 weeks before he might be able to get a shorter, below-the-elbow cast. All in all, he will have a cast of some sort for at least six weeks. So it looks like we will be changing the venue for his birthday party to something other than the splash park and it will make things interesting on our cruise in July!

He was still in pain last night, but is on some good pain relievers. He stayed home from school today and got really good with having the cast on and starting to use his left hand for things. He was really brave yesterday and we are really proud of him. We know that you would be too!

Poor Connor! His uncle Dan broke his arm jumping down the stairs when he was 4; little boys are so fearless.
